The Nungua Mantse, Nii Odaifio Welentsi III and Nii Botswe Laryea II Nungua who is said to claim as the Dzaasetse of Nungua Traditional Area and Kotobabi Mantse have filed a lawsuit against the Gbobu Wulormo Wor Lumor Konor Borketey Lawerh Tsuru XXXIII-(Shitse)the Overload of the GaDangme Kingdom over the installation of new minor traditional priests in the Nungua Traditional Area last Friday,20th April, 2018 before an Accra High Court.
Nii Odaifio Welentsi III who is the President of the Nungua Traditional Area sued the High Priest on his disagreement with the idea to install sub-priests in the said traditional area attributing it to the proposition not conforming to traditions and customary demands of the land.
In his Statement of Claim, he argued that, in reference to the Section 14(2) of the Chieftancy Act 2008 Act 759, the Traditional Council is the sole institution to conduct such installment. He added that such functions are conventionally awarded to the Nungua Mantse to install any person to a traditional office like Wulomo and sub-chiefs where there is vacancy in his paramountcy.
He noted that either his office or the Traditional Council have been notified of any vacancy and that actions taken by the High Priest to install sub-priests without resorting to customs and practices of the Nungua Stool is a threat to peace and security in the Area.
Regarding this suing of the Gborbu Wulomo, arguements have rose that the High Priests is customarily been accredited to appoint and install such sub-wulomei without making consultations with the Nungua Mantse. The Gborbu Wulomo is the highest hierarchy of high priests in the GaDangme Kingdom including Nungua therefore such allegations serves as an insult to his office.
Nii Odaifio Welentsi III enstoolment as a chief of Nungua described to be self-styled by disagreements and many problems have raised concerning his enstoolment.
